Membership

The ASFS sponsors each conference and ASFS membership is required in order to attend. Full-time and retiree membership also gives access to:

  • our year-round mentorship program for academics at all levels
  • the Outreach and Engagement Grant program (AU and NZ-based only)
  • our mid-year online works-in-progress symposia
  • ASFS communications
  • ASFS Member exclusive resources page

In addition, postgraduate/sessional ECR membership also provides access to:

  • free conference registration
  • the Postgraduate and ECR writing & peer support group
  • the Colin Nettelbeck Prize (AU and NZ-based only)
  • the ASFS/Australian Journal of French Studies Postgraduate Essay Prize (AU and NZ-based only)

Annual membership fees for the Australian Society for French Studies are as follows:

  • Full-time employed: $40
  • Student and sessional: $10
  • Retired: $20

ASFS memberships are typically paid for alongside registration for the ASFS annual conference.

Membership runs from the moment of registration until the end of following year on December 31. Members are bound by the Society’s Code of Conduct and membership is non-transferable.
