Nicolas Baudin Internships in France: Applications Open

The call for projects for the Nicolas Baudin- Internships in France initiative is currently open at the Embassy of France. The deadline for the submission of topics has been extended to the 7th of February 2020.

Launched as a pilot program in 2017, the Nicolas Baudin “Internships in France” initiative offers students from participating Australian universities the opportunity to undertake a research internship at a French host university in collaboration with an industry partner.

The objectives of the “Internships in France” initiative are to:

  • Increase student mobility from Australia to France
  • Contribute to the attractiveness and promotion of the French higher education and research systems
  • Strengthen student mobility within French-Australian scientific collaborations; initiate longer-term collaborations (cotutelle theses, CIFRE theses) through student stays
  • Contribute to the reconciling of the Australian university sector with the industry sector and promote the quality of interactions between universities and industry in France.

Nicolas Baudin Program 2019 Applications Now Open

Applications for the 2019 Nicolas Baudin program are now open!

The program consists of two application streams:

General Stream – Nicolas Baudin Travel Grant

Students enrolled at an Australian university and taking part in an exchange program /study abroad at a French establishment or hoping to pursue a full degree (including double degrees) may apply for the Nicolas Baudin Travel Grant. The Travel Grant consists of a return ticket between Australia and France. Laureates are also covered by Campus France mutual insurance and exempt from visa fees.

Internships in France Initiative

30 internships in France have been proposed by French universities and industry partners for Australian students. In addition to the travel grant, laureates benefit from a funding scheme involving a $2500 mobility grant from their home university and a monthly stipend from the host institution. Nicolas Baudin Grants

Nicolas Baudin grants consist in a return flight ticket between Australia and France. Recipients of French government grants are also covered by social security during their time in France, as well as being exempt from paying any visa fees.

Students are eligible to apply through the following frameworks:

1) Students seeking to undertake a research internship in a French laboratory in collaboration with a French company in the framework of the “Internship in France” initiative.

2) Students seeking to undertake a research internship in France outside of the Embassy’s “Internship in France” initiative.

3) Students enrolled at an Australian university seeking to take part in an exchange program /study abroad at a French establishment.

4) Students seeking to pursue a full degree at a French university (students will obtain a French degree at the end of their studies), including double degrees jointly offered by a French and an Australian university.

5) Students seeking to undertake a short term program at a French establishment. This includes summer and winter school programs.

In the 2018 round, there are 56 internships available for Australian students offering many opportunities to work with French research labs and industrial partners such as Naval Group, Airbus, Parrot, Total, Nikon and Tales to name a few.
