Australian Society for French Studies School Liaison and Community Outreach Fund Awarded to Dr Charlotte Mackay

The ASFS Executive Committee is delighted to share that Dr Charlotte Mackay has been awarded the ASFS School Liaison and Community Outreach Fund to support her outreach project.

In collaboration with the Association of French Teachers of Victoria and the Forum de la Francophonie, Charlotte Mackay and Loveena Narayanen will use the funds to start a literary club for secondary school teachers of French. The project aims to promote the diversity of French language literature from around the world and provide professional development opportunities for teachers of French to expand their knowledge of Francophone literature and use this expanded knowledge in their French classrooms for the benefit of both themselves and their students. Charlotte and Loveena hope and predict that raising awareness, fostering proficiency and increasing interest of secondary teachers vis-à-vis the wealth of literature emanating from French-speaking nations will result in a deeper and greater engagement of students with the Francophone world.
